Privacy Policy
Short version: FlashSnippet stores your snippets locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage. We collect no personal data, no usage data, and nothing leaves your device — except when you choose to validate a Pro license key.
1. Who we are
FlashSnippet is a Chrome extension made by Flash Labs. You can reach us at hello@flashlabshq.com.
2. Data we do NOT collect
FlashSnippet does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:
- Your name, email address, or any account information
- The text you type or the content of your snippets
- Browsing history or the pages you visit
- Analytics, telemetry, or crash reports
- Cookies or any tracking identifiers
3. Where your data lives
All snippets, settings, and usage statistics are stored exclusively in chrome.storage.sync and chrome.storage.local — Chrome's built-in, on-device storage APIs. This data is only synced across your own Chrome browsers if you are signed into Chrome with your Google account, under Google's standard Chrome sync. Flash Labs has no access to this data at any time.
4. License key validation
If you activate a Pro license, FlashSnippet sends your license key to Polar.sh (our payment processor) to verify it is valid. This request contains only the key itself — no personal information, no browsing data. Polar.sh's privacy policy applies to this interaction. The key is re-validated once per week in the background; if revoked, Pro access is removed automatically.
5. AI inline replies (optional feature)
If you use the /ai command, the text prompt you type is sent to a Cloudflare Worker operated by Flash Labs, which forwards it to an AI provider (Google Gemini by default, or your own API key if configured). The prompt text is not logged or retained by Flash Labs. If you supply your own API key, it is stored locally in your browser and sent directly to your chosen provider — it never passes through Flash Labs servers.
6. Permissions we request
FlashSnippet requests the following Chrome permissions:
- storage — to save your snippets and settings on-device
- activeTab — to read the current page URL and title for
{url}and{title}variables only - alarms — to schedule the weekly license re-validation check
We do not request broad host permissions beyond what is needed to inject the content script for snippet expansion.
7. Third-party services
FlashSnippet integrates with the following third-party services, each under their own privacy policies:
- Polar.sh — payment processing and license key management
- Google Gemini / OpenAI / Anthropic — AI reply generation (only when you use
/ai) - Cloudflare — hosts the AI proxy worker
8. Children's privacy
FlashSnippet is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
